The sweet scents and delicious flavors of Ndé (Cameroon) invaded the banks of the Thames this weekend, precisely near Canning Town. It was on the occasion of the very first edition of a gastronomic festival called NDELICE 2019 initiated by the dynamic association Connexion Ndé, presided by the current presence of the association, her excellency Annick Fotso.
As part of the promotion of the cultural heritage of Cameroon in general and the department of Ndé in particular, a festival initiated by the valiant association Connexion Ndé (CONDE) was held this summer in a lush garden in Canning Town, a few stops of Canary Wharf. This meeting of scents and flavors took place precisely in the park of Canning Town which runs along Victoria Dock Road E16 2BZ, a perfect place for this summer period this June 22 at 2 p.m.
On the menu of this unusual hike of tropical scents and flavors were traditional dishes from the villages of the “three letters” department, whose capital is Bangangté (Western Cameroon). Checkers and ludo competitions, popular leisure activities for Cameroonians, also helped to enhance this picturesque evening, giving visitors the opportunity to spend memorable moments.
Suzie who leads the organizing committee and her team have spared no effort to ensure that everything happens with the precision of an orchestra. “Just come and let us take care of you,” she promised.
Indeed, joy and happiness could be read on the faces of many festival-goers, happy to reconnect with their roots for some, to discover this gastronomy for others, through the variety, quality and authenticity of the dishes available. Nostalgics have had it for themselves and are already salivating at the idea of what the next edition will be.
All this to say that the guests almost unanimously had to recognize that for a first try, this first meeting was a masterstroke despite some failures inherent in any human enterprise.
